From a few things you've said so far, you clearly don't understand what AA really is about. You say you read the Big Book (which I seriously fricking doubt). But let's say you did. Your comments and impressions of how it works is seriously lacking. It's like you have a very vague understanding, a shot from the hip, about AA.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but don't come up in this thread and try to come off as the snarky authority to drive people away from it. Especially when you're acting the part of the goofball troll in 99% of your other threads. Why they frick should anybody listen to your opinion? For all we know, this could be another troll job by you.

You are really showing your ignorance.

AA isnt a program about prayer, you have to work at it.

Likely when you dry out you'll have to change your screen name to Mr. Used To Be Fun.

Wow, just wow.

Yeah he was a religious zealot. Study up on why there's twelve steps and most are redundant.

It's not bad for people it works for but it's specious reasoning, if you wanted to quit something and picked up a rock and at the same time you quit, then you might think the rock helped. It didn't but it's Dumbo's feather. It provides nothing of substance and gives people with genuine problems false hope and keeps then away from real treatment.

My trolls usually have punchlines, this won't.

You want my personal experience, I've seen this program do serious harm.

My analogy to holistic healing on a cancer patient is apt. It's not just harmless, it does real damage but those it harms are blamed for "not working it".

What, in your opinion, is "real treatment?"

There are at least three people posting in this thread that are in the program and sober.

What's your beef with it? And what's your alternative?

What personal harm have you seen it do? Let me guess, somebody you love was in the program and went back out and fricked up all kinds of lives? How is that a problem with the program?

I think you have Bill confused with Dr. Bob...

This:

...tells me you don't really understand how or why the steps are tools for living. Or really what these tools are and how they are to be applied. Non alcoholics could benefit from the 12 steps.

Agree to disagree. Like I said, I've said my peace, and honestly thanks for keeping it so civil y'all.

Again best of luck and hope y'all stay happy and healthy.

I never went to AA or any rehab. Some need it, some can quit and repair the damage on their own. Either way, as long as you get your life back on track.
