I I had the money to spare to buy a fully functional F4 Phantom, do you honestly think I’d have the slightest care about its fuel efficiency?

I’ve been looking at that one for a few years (not to buy,) often wonder why it doesn’t sell, or fly, it’s incredibly expensive to operate but I like to reminisce

Won't there be a lot of heat from the engine on that tail section?

I was thinking the same. I get that's why the need for the split tail but they must have simulated it enough to compensate for the exhaust.

F-4s used to make a lot of smoke, if I recall correctly.

You say that like it's a bad thing

Wonder what parts plus experienced labor costs are on an F4.

I can fix an F4 pretty easy, on the powerplant side. I'd cut 'em a brake on hourly rate.

had a chance to buy a cherried out T-33 for $150k a couple of years ago, I looked at how much it cost to operate it and had to pass

The money fans would save over a turbojet would pay for a much more modern aircraft real quick.

Only because you don't realize the amount of money you're talking about.

Very fuel inefficient and finding parts would be a bitch.

You had best have an endless supply of hydraulic fluid if you want to own a Phantom

T-33 was the first plane I ever worked on. Not sure I'd be too quick to fly a bird that basically breaks in half to work on the engine! ;)

They are an ok personal jet but their performance is t great even compared to a Pilatus PC12NGX which has a shite ton more room.
