I did word it so the "cyclist are never wrong" guy would do exactly what you did. Happened in my neighborhood, which has a 4 Lane cut through street very popular at rush hour/dusk, which is when this occurred. Even after guy yelled and cursed me out I had my wife bring him an ice pack for his shoulder until the ambulance arrived.

And yes, I am of the opinion that with all the state parks and natural riding trails available, riding your bike at dusk on a busy 4 lane street at rush hour is extremely pompous, attire excluded.
