Visited them many times growing up so I know them well. My second cousins were the same age so we went out and hung out together in high school. We have a close family but now we only see each other for funerals.

I found out that my grandfather's cousin's grandson (2nd cousin once removed?) was linked to 25-30 bank robberies in Ohio back in the 90's. His side of the family had moved in the 80's after a dispute over our family's restaurant. After my grandfather's dad died we seldom heard from them.
Anyway the cousin died in the early 2000's . Six or seven years later my grandmother sold the restaurant. Several years later she got a parcel in the mail full of redacted reports and copies of deposit slips and pictures of people at her restaurant making deposits.
Apparently certain government agencies had tracked some of the stolen money to New Orleans and had tried for years to see if their was any connection through text, email, or phone from people in our family to a list of people in Ohio.
After so long they realized no one on our family owned the restaurant and they gave up the investigation. We have never heard directly from anyone and we still not sure why the government sent us nearly 500 pages from the investigation. The restaurant eventually closes and is now a Rent A Center.
