800 credit score with 10 grand down that just wants to be at 400/mo on a corolla, but I also want to frick ivanka trump and the latter is probably happening first.
I'll spell it out for you on a regular deal...
Dealer buys Camry with 30k miles at auction for 12k
+transport/auction fees, now 12.5k cost
+reconditioning/floor plan/pack now at 14k
Dealer lists car for 16.5k, makes a deal with a customer at 15k. Customer gets a 2k warranty for 1k profit, and finance makes 2 points on the rate. Dealer profits 1k front end and 2k back end for warranty and rate. That commission is typically 300-400 for the salesperson.

I'm not in the fricking business or would ever care to be. You must sleep well at night knowing you ripped granny dearest off for a $10K profit.
Douche.
I only do it on the side now, and I've never ripped anyone off, especially for $10k. I sleep like a baby at night.
You're an assclown.

However, your F@I department is walking away laughing to the bank on holding 2 points over a 72 month note
Your Finance Manager is guaranteed to be making hellah money! Just letting deals come his way.
I'm sure you love the educated people that come in with their own Financing.

As a used car person you're telling me you've never dealt with a "lay me down" and made a pounder?
You're full of shite.

Yes, finance managers make a ton of money. Glad you caught on.

Is this the case? Do dealers really make this little on an average car sale? What about a more expensive car? More markup? I hate that dealers are not negotiating like they used to.

Buy it for $12.5k from auction.
Detail/repair as needed myself, still at $12.5k.
List it for $15.9k, sell it for $15k and profit $2.5k.
I try not to buy stuff that needs alot of repairs, and I like to buy Toyota.

Put it this way. I owned a lot for 5 years and got out when the economy took a nosedive in '09. A good friend of mine told me, "You know what your problem is? You're an honest person in an dishonest business."

I'm doing retailing through my dad's lot. I only buy a couple at a time though, so it's not too bad. I just do it on the side to make extra cash.

Pounder = $10K
I have yet to meet any one associated with the car business to be an honest person.

Have a friend thinking about opening a business doing this. Detailing/repair for used dealerships. Bring your shite from aution, he details it, gives an estimate for repairs, fixes what you want and returns you a frontline ready unit.

No one cares about your shitty opinions or wildly inaccurate statements about a business you clearly know nothing about. You can't let that frustration resulting from Jim Bob at Joe's autos making a pounder on that Ford Focus he sold you ruin the rest of your weekend.
There, you got some honesty out of the car business.

Only when I absolutely have to step foot inside a dealership do I deal with shitty people like you.
Good for you on the career choice though
