That's the German STG 44. It's the first "assault rifle" (Hitler himself coined that term BTW. It was manufactured from about 43 until the end of the war in 45. Te Soviet AK-47 is sort of based on this although they deny the shite out of it.

Yep. It's name was "Sturmgewehr" literally translates to such. "Strum" is German for "storm" or "assault" while "gewehr" is the German word for rifle.
