I've not seen that one but I imagine they make it look like we'd have lost the war without them and they were the greatest pilots to ever apply their arse to a aircraft seat in the history of aviation.

I enjoyed Flyboys. I don't care if it was inaccurate.

I recognize his face but I'm drawing a blank on his name. He was in charge of the Tokyo Express during he Solomons campaign.

Will give Ace a bit to see if he or anyone else knows. Then will tell it. You are correct on the Tokyo Express.

Well, I'm terrible with faces but if he was in charge of the Tokyo Express then that's Admiral Rasio? Tanaka.
He was a brilliant destroyer commander.

Ahh. After I admitted defeat I went and looked up his name. Can't believe I was drawing a blank of that name.

Heck if I know, but it reminds of some of those pictures of hostile unions...

It looks like a Hooverville, but otherwise I got nothing.

During the depression (which base on clothing this appears to be from), the shanty towns that grew up were called Hoovervilles in 'honor' of President Hoover.

That was so far back I won't go see... This thread is rolling and should reach 200 pages fairly quickly. We need our own board!

Yeah, going off the Tora! clues - it's not Genda or Muchida (or Yamamoto or Nagumo, for that matter.)

Ah - I am not too familiar with him.

He's sort of downplayed in most US history books because he had a bad habit of kicking our navy's arse on a regular basis.
