How about if BREC said a park was snake free, wouldn't they have the responsibility to make sure it was? What if they put up signs and some kid got bit?

If someone is misled to believe a property is safe by declaring it gun free, and someone is killed or seriously injured due to violence, shouldn't the entity making the false claim be civilly liable?
I've got news for you....if someone is killed by a violent crime, everyone that has any remote connection to it (or has good insurance) generally has some exposure. if the same thing happened and a property owner allowed guns, I think he would be hit a lot harder...

I agree. Owner of property takes full responsibility for the safety of the occupants if he prevents them from coming in armed.
I wish that were true ... but the fact of the matter is that you have the choice not to enter the so-called "gun free zone."
Now, when it comes to government buildings, schools, etc., that should be another story ... but it's not because citizens have no recourse against the Federal, or State, government if I am not mistaken. So if you are in a Federal building you're just fricked if terrorists attack, or whatever.
Some universities are now changing their laws in that regard and allowing students who are qualified and CWP holders to carry ... for just that reason. A way to fight back if necessary.
gun free zones here in America will eventually lead to a 3 Days in September Beslan type attack and after that happens ... things will change.
