My first car was a 1972 Midget. I pushed it more than I drove it. Fun car when it ran which wasn’t very often.

I have a 68 Roadster and a 73 GT. They are fun to drive and very easy to work on. If you are expecting somebody else to do the work, you bought the wrong car.
You can nearly build a complete one from parts from Moss Motors. You also might do a search for British car clubs in your area to get help. The North Alabama British Motoring Society is in Huntsville.

My BIL made a lot of money rebuilding MGs and TRs. Don't step in this, it smells really bad - really fast. There will be no end of change orders, hidden problems and up costs. As you spend the money, the theory of sunk cost will sucker you into an unending series of just a little more until you are dead broke.
Sort of like having people work on your Harley. (Yes, I ride them and still say this because it is true)

Yep, learn had to work on it yourself. They are super simple cars mechanically. I rebuilt the engine in mine with just a haynes repair manual, back before YouTube vids and the internet. If I were buying an MG today, it would be an MGA, the styling on those is incredible.

Do you know why the British drink warm beer?
Because the refrigerators have Lucas wiring.
I did a 79. Painted it British racing green. Looked sweet.
I’m can’t explain how fricking slow this thing was. I put a step up cam in, bored cylinders, pistons, Holley carb, k&n filter, Monza performance exhaust. Shaved the head.i worked my arse off in this car. Cause it’s pretty (I’m 19 with a free-ish car.) Basically trying to get every ounce of power out of it. The problem is there’s no power in it.
I believe in my heart you could hook that engine up to some sort of lever and I could beat it in an arm wrestling competition.
No shite.
It’s a pretty car.
Find a different engine and put it in that car.
frick original. I think they go for like 6500-7 plush. Just eat it. Put a fuel injected 6 in it.
I’m sure somebody has done it.
Find Obtuse. See what he says.
It’s pretty.
You will hate driving it because it is so slow.
I can’t emphasize how fricking slow this thing is.
I can damn near outrun you in a quarter mile.
It’s slow. You will never be happy.
It is so slow.
Bookmark this. When you get done come back. Say “slevin7 I’ve got 10-15k and x hours in this fricking thing and I can outrun it”
and I will apologize to you for not being able to emphasize how fricking slow this thing is.
Engine swap. I was pissed and poor and just sold mine. Just do an engine swap.
Please.
