If I’m not mistaken the test is different than it was 30 years ago, the grading scores and format.

I know both my kids had ACT prep classes in HS and also we paid for ACT tutoring.

That shite didn’t exists back then

You went out on Friday night and got shitfaced and showed up Saturday morning still half drunk and picked B for every answer

we had a SAT prep class at school - they were prepping us for the PSAT/national merit qualifying test

My oldest is a good test taker - she got a 32 the first time no prep, the second one is not a good test taker and he only did a little of studying. He just needed a 22 for TOPS so that’s good enough for me

Took it 2 more times less hungover and still got a 28 each time. Not one bit of improvement without drinking

TOPS wasn’t available for us, so the ACT was pointless.

My child that scored the lowest on the ACT and the only one who has dyslexia is a teacher. The education system in the US is fine.

Also:

Middle one took the PreACT last year and got a 17. I honesty have no idea how she will do on the real one. She is a terrible test taker. I am not even sure taking a prep course will help her. She has the worst test anxiety. Her tutor could never understand how she could rattle off all the info she was supposed to know for the test, or do the math problems with ease but then she would take the test and bomb...BIGLY.
