We took some random arse field trips back in the day. Went to the bunny bread factory. I guess that’s a regular trip for schools in the New Orleans area.

I went to the Audubon Zoo in the 2nd grade. The only thing I remember is hocking loogies and spitting them in the water bc the goldfish would eat them. Very educational experience for me.

We only went to the local bread and coke factories, and the Space and Rocket Center in H'ville.

They took us to the Holsum bakery in Monroe one year in elementary school. We got to eat a small loaf of bread right out of the oven. We thought it was a pretty big deal at the time. Posted on 5/8/18 at 9:11 am to JoePepitone

Very few things can beat fresh baked bread still hot from the oven. When I stood midwatches on the Ustafish my watch station was right below the galley. The night baker would bake fresh rolls and pass me down a couple through the escape hatch. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
