I think it's when you chew up some stuff then spit it out and mush it up on the affected area.

Granny had a poultice for everything.
My only experience was when a lady made a poultice for a friend who had a crick in his neck.We went on the river and drank all day.When he took the poultice off his neck was purple and still stiff.The beers helped though.

I did yard work early yesterday and watched football later. It's a rule that large quantities of beer must be consumed while participating in both activities. I feel like 40 miles of gravel road this morning.
