Oyster Dressing has been a part of my family's Thanksgiving my whole life.
Usually buy a couple pints of fresh oysters, already shucked in a container.
Wash them.
Make one pan of regular dressing.
Another pan of dressing has the raw oysters poked down into it.It's not as dry as regular dressing and has the great flavor of oysters.
If you like oysters, you'll love Oyster Dressing.

City boy.
We get the pirogue out and go catch our own oysters. Sometimes we use fresh water mussels.
Then go harvest our own corn to grind into flour.
Not really.
Pints of store bought oysters. We buy too many and have some oysters on crackers as part of turkey day morning snacks.

Forgive me for being a greenhorn, but you don't cook them in the dressing? You just make the dressing and then after the dressing is cooked you just put the raw oysters in?
