I was thinking the same thing. I can't help but thinking of that mother who was talking to her daughter on the phone to make sure her daughter was safe. In the middle of their conversation, the phone went dead and the mom had a gut feeling that a tornado had crashed through her daughter's apartment complex.

I don't think this will be on the level of 2011..that was just a once in a while event.. this will be siginificant yeah.. but nothing that extreme.

I hear some real concern coming from our weather guys up here. Possible line in the morning then another wave later in day which would bring in really severe threat.

We shall see Monday.

Lawton/Fort Sill, OK

Still fairly nice out, winds just picked up a lot though. If we get anything, I don't think it's suppose to be until later

God, I hope that you're right. I scares the crap out of me when those sirens go off. Having lived in Baton Rouge most of my life, tornado sirens were very new to me. New Orleans and BR don't have sirens. I never realized that Alabama was a tornado state.

Yeah, and tornadoes down here are special, most are rain wrapped, happen at night, and of course the terrain here sucks for seeing them ahead of time. I'm not saying that this weekend won't be bad just cause its not on the 2011 level... it has a great chance to be extremely bad for a lot of people.

I assume you've lived in Avondale before. You must've been able to hear the warning sirens they have around St.Charles before.

GM, what were your thoughts on the storm a few weeks ago? I swear it was the worst shite I'd ever seen but had no power to watch the news the following day. Scared me to death, our area was purple on the radar. Live around the lakes fwiw.

In terms of storm intensity and strength etc from the radars? I followed you all night, couldn't sleep after the first wave nearly blew my house away.

So you think the worst parts of this storm will be more intense than the worst parts of the storm a few weeks ago?

The worst parts of this storm in ARKLATEX tomorrow, then MS/AL and areas around there Monday and Tuesday have the chance of being exponentially worse than what we got in South LA a few weeks ago. Hail is the least of their worries.

Dr Forbes thinks we will see more tornadoes from this than we have had all year, that number is 109.

from NWS Shreveport:

quote:

The threat of very dangerous thunderstorms continues to loom in our horizon for the afternoon and evening hours across the entire Arklatex. Although the epicenter of this threat lands squarely in central Arkansas....northern Louisiana...southeast Oklahoma...and much of northeast Texas.. will also be seeing a very enhanced threat for large long lived tornadoes of intensity F-2 or greater...and hail of golfball to possibly greater than baseball size. ANY storms that you see developing or approaching your area tomorrow afternoon will have potential to become severe very rapidly!! Have a plan if a tornado warning is isssued and/or if a storm with lightning approaches you. Most sturdy buildings are safer than automobiles and especially mobile homes.
