Ft Sumter cannons on campus missing?

Walking around on campus for the game and I walked by the military science building and noticed the 2 cannons are stripped from their bases. Anyone know what the deal is?

I hope they are out being refinished or something and not permanently removed.

They were a gift from General Sherman so that should cover any PC issues.
And they have great historic value. Hopefully they're going to be back where they belong.

very glad to hear that...those cannons are one of my favorite artifacts to show folks who come to campus for the first time.
