you wouldn't understand. he's on another cerebral level right now b/c he's high. he questions the big picture, not just from the moment the bomb was dropped but to 60 years into the future. you're content just accepting the propaganda that's been fed to you, but he's pondering questions like "how does that affect mankind and stuff?"

by the way he's high. i didn't know if you knew that or not.

I would argue the Tokyo fire bombings were worse than what happened with Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

you've been asked MULTIPLE times, and i know you're high, how would you have handled the japanese?

I would have rounded up the Japs in America and put them in camps.

I have asked multiple times how different the next sixty some odd years would have been if we had gone another route and nobody seems to want to touch that one either. Which I find odd since we know with certainty that this was the best course of action.

Would we all be speaking German?

because that is a stupid question that no one can answer. What would happen if all humans grew wings tomorrow but they didn't work? Would we have them medically removed? What would happen?

You're asking people to speculate about a whole bunch of different what-if's rather than speculating about the only single "what-if" there is to focus on.

The question is, how does not dropping the bomb affect our country negatively, AT THE TIME?

Do you think the people making this decision gave a SINGLE FLYING frick what the 320 million Americans would think about it 60+ years later? Or what the world would think?

The only thing to be considered is what happens to your Country and its citizens if you don't drop the bomb.

Most every other country on Earth, had they been in our position, wouldn't have handled that situation with such poise. Look at the actions of all the other nations during the period.

So until one of us writes a fricking alternate history novel, you're sticking to your guns?

Another country would've eventually used the bomb on perhaps a larger scale, except that country would now be the most powerful and feared country in the world.

It took the world seeing the horrific aftermath of the atomic bombs to realize that nuclear war will destroy mankind. In a way, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the reason why nukes haven't been used since.

You should thank the United States for being the first to use the bomb and the first to champion against ever using it again.

I can appreciate that argument. Someone was going to get liquored up - testosterone flowing during that period of ovulation - and spread his seed.

Why not us?

That kind of what you're saying?

That is possibly the worst analogy I have ever read.

Since you're deep in contemplation, would you rather the United States end an entire world war with two nukes, or trust Hitler, Japan, or the Soviet Union to show restraint in using their nukes to take over the world?

Actually it's not, Dan. Go back to the last page and read your post about wings and such.

You're a military guy. What would you have done had nukes been unavailable? Let's pretend we did not acquire them in time to drop them on Japan.

Before he answers, why don't you answer your own question. Don't forget, you're deep in a drug induced philosophical contemplation. This should be easy for you.

Instead of blatantly trolling, why don't you at least man up and answer this question yourself.

That way, we'll have a military point of view (which has been posted several times already) and a civilian point of view to compare.

If you don't man up, I assume it's okay for all of us to assume that you're a pussy?
