If they're gonna clean it with bleach, I'd be wary of eating off plates / drinking out of cups that have been coated with a leftover bleach mist from the cleaning cycle.

Clearly you didn't muck out any houses. What do think happened when water levels rose above the toilets? The sewers backed up into your "not so nasty" flood waters.
