Washington is a former attorney. She gave up her law license in 2004 after being convicted on felony federal fraud charges. She served two years, four months and twenty days in federal prison for tax fraud, bankruptcy fraud and defrauding a federally insured financial institution.
According to court records from the case, prosecutors said Washington “often used false social security numbers in her financial dealings.”
During her time at the 9th Ward Field of Dreams, Washington earned $200,000, or $5,000 a month. Records show that means she earned more than Carver’s current football coach, who works full-time at the school. He makes $55,000.

She also raked in more through cell phone/internet, vehicle, and other allowances.

It must be a nice gig to run a nonprofit into the ground, and pretty much fleece it into insolvency.

At that rate of pay, someone with a brain would have been at least fundraising like hell and could have at least balanced the books to justify their being on the payroll.

Shame on the board for keeping her that long on the payroll.

What stinks too about this whole charade was that they got a lot of in kind donations. Such as the architect who designed and spent over 1,000 hours designing the project. They also got used turf donated then from the dome. They then went out and put a deposit on new turf. What idiots do this stuff besides Betty Washington?

A thief....that’s who does it...

with someone stealing from their children....you would have thought marches would have been in line...nope.

Betty and her accomplices should go to jail....

SEOLA’s owner should go to jail....

The Carver people should, never let this happen....vetting all of the board members....then Betty Washington would have never been put in the position to do this..

My hopes are that Carver gets its stadium, but NOLA’ good people need to be smarter in trusting unvetted people on these special opportunities ...that don’t come around often...

Betty you got it coming...the lord does not miss...the devil is waiting...
