Meanwhile, in Louisiana, murderers are getting 8-12 and only serving 2/3 the time... A jacked up system we live in.

Didn't read the whole thread, but this sentence is barbaric and stupid. Typical of modern American criminal justice. 17 is legal in many if not most states and there's no reason for this dumb woman's life to be completely ruined. Her teaching licensed should be revoked and that's it. In Louisiana, a teacher sex with a 17 yr old student is just a misdemeanor.

It ain't over yet for her either. She is also facing add'l charges in anther county for the same thing. It will probably be a year or more before she even sets foot in the state pen.
In the meantime, she will be transferred to jail in Hillsborough County and she will be in for a rough go there.
Still, 22 years seems excessive for this.
