Same here. Mine doubled. Over $400 now.

Mine went from 200 last month to 380 this month. I figured it was going to increase with summer coming, so we cranked the air up every day to 76 , closed curtains, and kept it at 70 at night. So I was shocked when I saw the increase.

When I got my bill early this morning, I hadn’t gotten the email from Entergy yet. I went back and looked at my prior June bills for May 2021/2020. Those bills were between 240-260.

Luckily we have options and can select a different power provider!

Probably wouldn’t make a ton of difference in this case. Even in “deregulated” markets you still have the grid operator, a utility, that would seek to recover storm costs.

Fuel costs are what they are. Natural gas is up from $3.10 to $8.54 over the past year. Considering that’s the single largest operating cost for power generators (at least for gas plants, which make up about half of the state’s output), it shouldn’t really be surprising that electricity costs are going up.

I know nobody really wants to hear that, but it’s the unfortunate reality.

Just got my new bill. Went from $200 to $300

Bonus also just got a letter from the IRS acting like I haven't paid them. I did and they are charging me interest and late fees.

Right because the PSC totally just takes Entergy at their word when they set rate base pricing and increases. It’s a really neat meeting where they ask Leo how the kids are doing and after small talk he just asks for rate increases because “boy you see how crazy the market is” and the PSC is all like “Sure no problem. How much ya need?”

I’ve got no dog in this fight, but I always love these threads when people that have no fricking clue how regulated utilities work say shite like this.

I always love how people think just because something is regulated, the consumer is going to get a fair shake.
