New home built in 2014 and having problems with the septic plant. I guess it's like a modad but not a modad brand. Anyway. So after dealing with some plumbers and digging up part of my property I run in to the issue causing my home to drain slow. It's where this 40-50' run of black chambered half pipe ends and the standard schedule 40 PVC drain pipe meet at. I call the septic system company that installed it and the lady on the phone says that those effluent reduction things can be replaced after 2 years, they just have to be there to pass code.

Does anyone know if this is true or has done something similar? I'm trying to get an actual technician on the phone to let me know before I go pulling this stuff up and replacing it with a regular tail line to the ditch. I'm kind of amazed that the solution at this point appears to be replacing something with something less costly and from my vantage point more simple.

Thanks baws. Trying to get this thing buried back before the Hurricane gets us all.

Honestly, I wish I could help. I read your post three times and none of it made sense to me. It was like reading another language. My construction knowledge is weak but maybe this bump will get someone in here to shed some light on this.

Well the lack of responses at least indicates it's not common knowledge. I have spent a bit of time on Google and probably am not using the appropriate terminology. This is the first time I've owned a septic treatment system in a home so it's a learning experience. Kind of cautious in dealing with the thing but it's got to be done or paying people lots of money for my lack of knowledge seems likely to continue in perpetuity.

I appreciate the bump.

My system has an air pump that blows air into the tank. From the tank, there is a a perforated pipe probably about 75 feet long. Nothing ever comes out the pipe as it is absorbed into the dirt along the pipe.

After several years for use, nothing has been done to mine and it works fine. Hope this helps because that is all I know.
