Anyone here getting their feet washed at the Holy Tursday service tonight? Anyone of you New Orleans folks visiting 9 churches tomorrow for Good Friday? Non-Catholics are welcomed to join us!

if you've never participated in these services and traditional events, you need to check it out. It's a very wonderful and moving experience.

I don't know how the tradition started, but it's a good one. Many people are going in groups and are performing what's known as "living Way of the Cross" - a tableau of the 14 stations of the Passion of Christ.

It's a very moving experience. Very prayerful and a reverent way to remember Christ's death.

Holy Tursday

I thought it was "Maundy Thursday".

Yes that's another name for it. I think the use of Maundy Thursday is a way to view it as the eve of Good Friday.

Just a good way to mix things up, calling everything "holy_____" comes across as lazy. "Holy Wednesday", "Holy Saturday", come on use some imagination.

Also it's to remember the last supper so it should have a somber tone to it in my opinion.
