Did the Confederacy surrender Savannah without a shot?

Savannah was a strategic Confederate stronghold during the Civil War due to its strategic port location, railroad connections, and the production of cotton, which was crucial for the Confederacy's economy.

You guys didnt think about defending Savannah?

Is there a levee around Savannah too?

Huh? Fort McAllister fired lots of shots.
Hazen’s boys caught hell before they captured the Fort, which the Union tried to capture the entire war unsuccessfully until the end of ‘64

Cities were usually lost in battles 10-20 miles away from the actual city. If you’re defending your home from behind the azalea bush in the front yard, you’re in trouble.
