How hard have you been dating? I mean did you meet as a one night stand that turned into a relationship after casual sex for a couple weeks so it just turned serious? Or did you start from the beginning 'dating'? Is she someone you would call your girlfriend because it seems like you just think of her as a girl you are dating? If that's the case and she is coming clean seems fair to me.
Definitely a red flag but if you like her I'd just say it's not cool and ask if there is anything else she needs to share, if it happens again drop her but if not move on.
