How the frick are you guys getting such high quotes?

Mine is $2800/yr for the silver plan.

It is just me and I am pretty sure that is less than my employer currently pays for my high deductible plan with an HSA. Granted my deductible is currently $2500 vs $6k, but I haven't been to a doctor in a decade and I have my HSA or money to pay a high deductible if I ever had to.

And of course no subsidy for me, OT baller and all.

They are covered, although a higher co-pay than with employer plans. And of course, still cheaper than paying for everything myself.

I'm looking for a full-time job, so hopefully this would be a moot point.

I think it all depends what state you are in. Mine was WAY cheaper than these guys are saying, I don't get any subsidy, and I got a platinum plan.

ETA: $1000 deductible too.

Exactly. I go twice a year but everyone should go at least once a year!

I agree about the physical. I'm gonna go get one this year. It's free for me, so I don't really have an excuse not to. Just don't like taking time to go to the doc.

Maybe you're getting a subsidy if you're income is not high

According to that calculator my silver would be $1847, when I change the zip to LSUs zip code it goes up to $2736!!!! When I signed up at healthcare.gov it was dumb not to pay the extra $80 a month for platinum.

Hell no, I wish! Try with different zip codes! Mine is in AZ and is 85251 and is $1786. I tried with a BR zip of 70803 and it went up to like $2800. Beverly Hills 90210 is almost $2500. US Average is $2535.

ETA: Arizonans must be healthy and I get platinum for cheaper than you guys pay for silver!

I used to go once a year but a buddy of mine got cancer last year, they found it at a physical while doing blood work, so now I am going every 6 months. It takes a couple hours and can save your life. After watching what he went thru I want to find out EARLY if I have anything.

I pay about $2100 a year for BCBS through my employer.

Using this calculator it would cost be $2450 through the gov market.

Good deal???

I actually found mine was cheaper thru healthcare.gov than any calculator, especially since the platinum plans are barely higher. It only takes like 5 minutes to use the real site. I was bitching about Obamacare since it was announced but I guess I live in a good state for it!

It's because of our income family coverage and age.

That's a huge difference. You have much better plan than what you would get through the ACA. You also share the cost treatments, test and procedures by paying 30%. Your max out of pocket with the ACA plan would be $12,700.

You are much better off in your companies plan.

edited to add "and age".

Or where you live because I don't get any subsidies. Try my zip and be jealous. AZ 85251.

Family of 6.
I currently pay $120/month, with a max $2500 out of pocket a year.

Under Obamacare, my monthly premium would be $791/month with a max out of pocket of $12,700/year.

Sounds like a great deal...

Ouch! How can you currently pay $120 a month for SIX people though unless your employer pays a LARGE portion if it? Are they not going to pay anymore?
