re: Crazy dive bars

Man, back in the pre-Katrina days, NOLA used to have so many neighborhood dives... Bars were loss-leaders for video poker machines, which is where all the profit came from. In just one little corner of the Lower GD, there was Sharon's, the Half Moon, the Moonlight, and the Saint, all within a few blocks of each other. Now the Half Moon's a sports bar, the Moonlight is Down the Hatch, Sharon's is the way more upscale Garden District Pub, and the Saint...I dunno, I'm too old for the Saint.
