I have what is probably a hundred or more small rust spots from where rocks and crap gets slung onto the hood. Also some on the quarter panels around the headlights but not as many. I thought about having someone get the rust off and repaint the hood and areas around the headlights.

Anyone have any recommendations on the Northshore and an idea what this would cost?

2007 Honda Accord. 203,000 miles and showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.

No just the hood and part of the quarter panels around the headlights. I want it to blend but it's not a big deal if it's subtle. This is my commuter I just want to save the metal.

Could probably replace the entire outside color of the vehicle for cheaper at a scrapyard.

Variety is the spice of life.

You don't repaint road rash on a 200k mile Honda.

Around BR body and paint rates are around $50/hour. Probably 3-4 hours to repaint the hood and 1-1.5 to blend each fender.

If you have a bunch of chips you could probably add 3 hours total of repair time to get the chips fixed prior to paint.

So maybe around $500 +/- depending on how bad the chips are and the time.

ETA If it's a commuter car only bring that thing to FactOBake and see what they charge.

Why not? I take care of the mechanical and fully expect it to last me to 400k. I didn't wax it as often as I should have, lesson learned. I just don't want the rust to grow.

What's the retail value on a 10yr on a car with 200k miles? A decent repaint of the hood and fenders would total the car if it was an insurance job. The panels won't rust to dust in the south.

Hell of a lot less than a new car to get me back and forth to work. I don't expect to sell this thing, ever. Unless it's for junk metal after it croaks.

Well I'm thankful I haven't been in an accident that would total it. I'd rather keep it than pay for a new one.

Maybe not but they are already starting to rust in a few spots. Rust grows exponentially under the paint and through the metal. I do not want to end up with holes in my car after another 10 years.
