went to public schools as a yute, their policy was that zero medical service could be rendered without parents permission, not even an aspirin, I broke my arm pretty badly one day in sixth grade, preparing for the Presidential Physical Fitness test , broke both the ulna and radius, with the radius just about protruding from the skin, this was way before cell phones and my parents had left their office early to go look at lake properties an hour or so south of town, I sat in a room on the principal's office from about lunch time until almost five o'clock when they returned to the office and got the notification, seemed like a dumb policy to even a young kid like me back then, it was obvious I had a pretty bad fracture, my arm was at an almost 90 degree angle from about 2" above my wrist to the rest of my forearm, a very painful afternoon
