re: Coke with peanuts

People all over The South use to do it.
It became a thing, back when all of the cars/trucks were straight shifts, didn't have power steering, and the roads were rough. About the only snacks you could get then when travelling in some places, was a drink and a bag of Tom's or Lance's peanuts at a gas station, but you needed to keep your hands kind of free for steering and shifting. It was easier, if you just poured the peanuts in your coke. Eat some peanuts and take a drink at the same time.

I remember my Dad doing that when I was a kid, but I never cared for it much, it took all the fizz out of my coke.
