Any OTers been by the Bissonnet track area in Houston? Recently learned about this then went down a YouTube rabbit hole last night. Apparently they’ve cleaned it up the last few years.

On slow days, I go exploring sometimes at lunch so cruised by the area just out of interest. Nothing unusual, just not the best part of town. Didn’t see any track stars out and about. Don’t think I’d be driving through there at night tho.

I guess it used to basically be a lawless area where drugs and prostitution ran rapid and wide open. Cops didn’t even go there. All the YouTube videos seemed to be more on Plainfield Rd off Bissonnet. I did go in the Burger King and get some chicken fries but saw no scandalous activity.

have and had a few customers with warehouses along that way

used to be 100x worse than it is today. Never went at night but didn't matter, tricks were up and down the street. Literally all over.

I was picking up 50k check after a delivery and there was hooker knocking on my window when i got back to my car. Right in the parking lot of my customer's shop

Took a few buddies sightseeing after playing 18 at sharpstown because it was fascinating to witness. Looked like something out of The Wire

wouldn't touch any of those busted women

I am interested in the economics of it. Hundreds of women were working up and down Bissonnet along 59. None of them were particularly attractive in any way. I wonder how much money was changing hands on any given day and where they all went after the city shut it down

If you have watched The Wire it was basically Hamsterdam but centered around prostitution instead of the drug trade

They put up permanent gates I believe that closed at a certain time to traffic And pedestrian activity which I think helped quite a bit
