I enjoy viewing historical film footage and photos. I’m surprised I’ve never seen this footage before. Excellent quality. I can’t figure out what the bucket brigade is doing. It’s also amazing how everyone is dressed considering the circumstances. Also was wondering where all these people live? Assume they live outside the city and come in during the day?

You don’t understand just how many people fled to the city before the advance of the red horde from the East. For as bad as the Nazis were, the Soviets paid them back tenfold.
There was a massive surge in abortions after the war because the Soviet barbarians raped anything that moved.
I’m sure citizens fled from the west as well but nowhere near as many from the East.

One of the narrow points I remember from World History in 1993 was that the Red Army getting revenge on Germany was one of the most animalistic revenge missions in history. They made a point to rape as many as they could and to make suffering deaths out of anyone still there. I was taught that they basically wanted to "one-up" the Germans in the pillage department from when Germany conquered parts of Russia in either WWI or WWII. Total Payback mission
