how's about cutting up some 1x4s? hd will even cut them or you

I got some 8 foot 1x6 and cut them accordingly. I then took the left over pieces and cut them to the right height and screwed them into the bed slats. I put some furniture leg pads on the bottom to prevent scratching. The leg supports that came with the bed kept sliding out from underneath themselves when the wife and I were going to pound town.

Measure it out and go to Home Depot, they cut it to your specs for free.

LOL, I inherited a step stool from one of the grandkids and have to use that to get into bed. It helps a lot!

Take 1x4s and screw on either side of the 1x4 that's already there.

It will be an upside down U if that makes sense.

I built my bed and that's what I had to do on each of the rails.
