Read a book on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It will help you watch and evaluate your thoughts. What goes on in your head isn't reality. People just latch on to the thought, follow it and it produces an emotional effect in your body. Learn to just watch the thought, let the emotion be as it is, and realize that you are the consciousness behind thought and emotion that simply witnesses life and life experiences in the present moment of time. A book by Eckart Tolle called The Power of Now helps you stay grounded in the present moment and is a more modern variation of Buddhist meditation practice. It puts things in life in perspective and will make you a more grounded, peaceful human being. Hope this helps. Good luck.

This is so true. I learned a lot from Dbt and while I still need meds, the therapy helped me most of all

Ask your doctor to recommend a clinical social worker. They will work with you more on the root of the problem and behavioral therapy rather than testing medications.

Seek out a mental health professional as you are.
If you want a non-pharmacological option, consider mindfullness...
