Judy Van Zant has taken to taken to Facebook to have her say on the new Skynyrd biopic ‘Street Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash’

And she confirmed that there is a new, authorised, Skynyrd movie in the planning stage. She said:

“I was trying to stay out of this but there is so much BS here folks. Some facts:

“Artimus never asked us to join in nor consult on this film. His producer asked after they knew we were opposed to its making. And we did say no! By the time we knew of its existence the script was finished. I have not seen this and will not see it. The plane crash is not a pleasant subject for me so to glorify it in any way is disgusting!

“When we were not consulted on the story, or who was to play our loved ones, we decided not to be involved and to not license the music to some LA folks who never even knew Ronnie and the boys. And Arti was not sued, it was the film company, and they are the ones who paid any legal fees.

“We, and when I say we, Gary and myself along with estates of band members are working on our own film. Covid has slowed that down but we are determined to tell the story with grace, facts, truth and integrity. There will be no plane crash in this film! While it is hard (probably impossible) to find anyone who can play the part of Ronnie or anyone else. We will do our very best! Stay tuned!
