17 in a row is very impressive for a philly or mare, for that matter any race horse.

what was the name of the horse they tried to beat Cigar's record at EVD in special stakes race a couple years ago?

Of course I was up to watch her. I always watch her.I say with full confidence she is THE BEST offspring of street cry. Winx laughs at zenyatta's record.

Yeah but winx has 12 group 1 victories and isn't racing against suspect fields in California for most of her career

Aspercel - do you remember that so. Louisiana horse that hit 15 or 16 in a row and got beat in that special stakes race EVD created for the record at the time?

No. I don't think I was around at that time.

Hallowed dreams is the only one I can think of who ran around here.

You know she is (was?, not sure if still alive) a broodmare for racing quarters? I'm pretty sure I didn't dream that up.

You are right, as usual. A friend and I were talking about that horse recently. We were in Lafayette at a bar the night of that race and drove over to EVD and bet against the horse after listening to the know-it-alls at the bar. There was only 4-5 horses in the race and the winner paid something stupid like 80 - 1. It was a fun night.

It's all good. I had a good bit on Blame in the BC.

Almost every horse will eventually lose, unless you keep them in New Mexico or something. I hope they take the chance and go to ascot with her.

Grand national is today. I usually wait to read if anybody died before watching replays.

Also looking forward to the bluegrass and the wood. Santa Anita derby is meh as far as derby horses but may end up as a good one to bet.

I'm not even sure, to tell you the truth. Every time a horse looks like the real thing they either throw a clunker or get hurt this year...

All the keeneland races look good. Excited to be heading up there next weekend.

I really hope irish war cry turns things around. I love motion and the horse looks so much like animal kingdom to me

Was at that BC when blame beat Zenyatta.

Was great....people were booing blame. But he won at the line.

Zenyatta has not produced any winning offspring from 5 babies, Racheal Alexandra though has a G1 winning baby.

Winx and Black Caviar.....Aussie super mares!!

We have mares being bred to Tapit, Empire Maker and Honor Code....will foal all in
Louisiana next year.

Tapwrit in the bluegrass
Battalion Runner in the Wood.....pletcher trains both

If you can't tell by my tone, I was team rachel all the way.

Cheered against Z in most of her races.

I didn't necessarily hate zenyatta like I did big brown, but I was not a fan.

Damn. Those will be some nice la breds! Which la stallions you going back to?

Who are the mares by?

Rachael was the best, no ducking, no fixed California races.

Z was good but the shine wasn't there for us, because of the hand picked victims...

Hoping a Tapit stallion can be brought in the next 12 months

Big mare going to Tapit is by Tiznow. She is half to a champion, a millionaire and 4 Graded horses. 17 hand beast. She foals a E Maker anytime now. (Ky)

Next mare going to E Maker is by Broken Vow. She is half to G2 600k earner and from G1 second dam winner of $900k. G's all over her page, sires and Govonor Malibu. Another 17 hand beast. Foaled a declaration of war (Ky)

Next mare bred yesterday to Honor Code is by Candy Ride. She is half to J Be K, G2 stallion, and 2 other stakes horses. 16.2 hand midget compared to the others...
Foaled a half ours (la)

Your poor mares are going to be slumming next year

At least the half ours can run some. Hope it's a pretty gray.

My favorite is the excuse makers, especially TVG, continuing to make excuses for zenyatta.

Zenyatta had some problems, but Blame was hammered 3-4 times in between horses, which is far worse. Which was how Zenyatta made that final closing try.

Getting hit in the sides by 1200lb animals is far worse than having to check, especially when 2/3 of the field are coming to a crawl at that point.

I had Blame huge! And still could not believe the price i got. I figured before heading out to OTB, i would be lucky to get 3/1.

I loved hearing Trevor Denman whining that Blame won. Seriously, majority of her races, she literally only had to jog around the track and finish up. They were going 50,51 halves on the poly surfaces.

Mostly fan. I've got one I bred, but lost his mom a month later, so he is it. I'm currently racing him and am just thankful to have broken his maiden

It took a lot just to get him to the track. He's a la bred.

I also helped start a listing service (which has turned into a rescue despite us just starting out and not really being able to handle rescues) for horses retiring here in Louisiana. We were modeling ourselves off canter but people kept threatening to ship horses so we've been able to rustle up a few fosters.
