There have been lynchings in Alabama as recent as the 80s
There was A lynching in Alabama in 1981 - Michael Donald. Klansmen randomly selected him after a mistrial for the murder of white policeman. The perpetrator would actually be convicted in 1985, so the Klan pussies had their panties in a knot over nothing, anyway - aside from not even going after the "right" guy.
See - THIS is a glaring evil of racism (beyond mere prejudice that we all hold to some degree) - if you're going to just blame everybody similar, you better look in the mirror first, baw.
Having said that - white on black crime - since the 1960s (and probably earlier) is not really a thing. They're statistical anomalies - international news stories - they're so rare they're highly noteworthy.
Black on black or black on white crime? Quite common and nobody even pretends to care anymore.

but that acknowledgment doesn't make it fair to tell people move on or stop using it as a crutch(which I don't think most people do)
you may not want to move on, but until you move forward not a damn thing will change.
but again, according to statistics a young black male will lose his life tonight at the hands of another young black male in my city.
it will happen again tomorrow, the next day, and the day after, and the day after, with no end in sight.
as a black man, how does that not piss you off? why would you not want to move forward?

I get what you're saying, but discrimination has consequences that don't disappear over the span of thirty years, using you example .
My parents participated in sit ins and protest. My grandmother registered people to vote, which in those days was not a guarantee of safety especially for a woman. I was never raised to use racism as a crutch, however I was taught to not take my current situation for granted ,people fought and died for me to be in my current position in life.
I wish more of our youth understand the sacrifice made for them.
FB friends , lol

My "narrative" is supported by simplying saying that in 1955 a white person could murder a 14 year old black kid and a jury of white people could not convict them despite the evidence presented. That was not 100 years ago .
as horrible as that is, it is a fact. it can not be denied.

My point is that we are not that far removed from this type of racial violence
that is also a fact.
But, moving forward from those past events, should the same crime be committed today in North Mississippi, those same white people would be convicted and sentenced to death.
We aren't all the way there. But we are a hell of a lot further than we were in the 60's.

that broke my heart.
I had family members that were also involved in the Civil Rights movement ( my family is full of ministers) . We would attend black church services and my Dad would preach
I honestly never understood there was a difference between black and white until I was beaten up by black kids because I was white

quote:Just what is it that makes Blacks hate Trump?
Or like Donald Trump
Is it his plan to help young black people establish credit? His plan to help the inner cities?
OR,
Is it because their Master, the Democratic Party TOLD them he's a racist? What kind of people tell children that if Trump was elected, he was going to "send all blacks 'back' to Africa???" My daughter in law is a teacher in Orleans Parish and was faced with kids asking this question. Is this race of people in this country so naive to believe whatever a political party tells them? The same party that shows up every election season with promises and handouts and disappears until reelection time, or to tell you who to vote for. The African American community should be sick of being used, but alas...

Like I said previously. I think black people as a whole have progressed in this country, in spite off.
Contrary to popular belief there are people who comitt their lives to ending violence in our community. I work with at risk youth, you can't save everyone, but it works .

Props to you.
What's your opinion on a person like Gary Chambers? Does he help, hurt, or have no bearing on the progress on the AA community?

Nvm. Hard to explain in a way that my opinion isn't already interjected into it

quote:all crap. How can he do anything to help them establish credit? The system that is in place now does a great job of making credit available. All he is going to to do to "stop" crime in the inner cities is get Republicans to enact laws that target blacks like stop and frisk.
Is it his plan to help young black people establish credit? His plan to help the inner cities?
ETA: They don't want to clean the inner cities, they just want to put more black males in the for profit prisons

give me a percentage

I googled
He seems to piss white people off, he must be doing something right, lol
I don't like social media activist, not a big fan of BLM, for various reasons. But I understand the times we live in.
If his brash style brings attention to real inequalities then he's doing something, can't argue with that.
sometimes being to brash can bring more harm than good, which can take away from your ultimate goal.

A have said regularly that a big part of the problem that plagues impoverished blacks is the lack of accountability. Despite the system that put forth the conditions, people at an individual level have to make smart decisions. Promote education, stop having babies out of wedlock by worthless individuals, play it close to the vest. As far as a percentage goes I wouldn't know because I didn't poll anyone
