Anything communal - movie theaters bars, Elks Lodge, church - is going to be less popular than 30 years ago.

I hear cover charges on popular college bars during game days are like $100. No idea who is paying that. I think the max I paid was $5 to get into a bar in college

I can not stress to you how much poorer (relatively speaking), how much less free time, and how much less disposable income (drinking money) the average college student has today compared to 30-40 years ago. While there are obviously still a lot of fratstars and sorostitutes partying it up at Fred's or the Rev on any given night during the semester, most zoomers simply cannot afford to go out as often as gen xers could back in the day. In many ways, the chronically online culture is an economic cope to deal with the fact that they cannot afford to be as social as previous generations. They work more jobs for longer hours for less pay while accruing more debt.

True. College is more expensive these days and a lot of them know that if they fk up and lose TOPS they will be working at Starbucks in their 40s.
