The problem is that the OS gets slow due to storage getting updates to apps , pictures being taken deleted. Mobile operating systems have the up hill battle of experiencing change and dealing with caching more so than your desktop.
A fresh install on any computer or mobile operating system should give it a good speed improvement , but then a matter of time before it gets sluggish again. Restoring from backups on a new device expedites slow downs.
