I’m going through it now I think… I’ve dealt with it before but it was a culmination of my own doings over a couple years span… this time it feels a little different because it was only brought on by something that happened in the last month or so, but it’s weighing on me heavily and I haven’t felt like myself for the past 2 weeks or so…
It’s rough. And when you try to open up about it to people their go-to response is ‘everything will be alright in due time’ or ‘just let it go and move on’ but it’s never that simple
I’m a guy who always walks around with a smile, who always loves laughing and joking with everyone around me.. i still try my best to be this way but deep down i know at least for the moment, its fake.
Its rough. Sometimes there feels like there is no answer

A lot of people have said not to isolate and to find purpose. I think both of these are correct but incomplete. Try to find a way to be needed. Find something in your community that won’t get done if you don’t do it. For instance, many nonprofits (Little League, Boy Scouts, etc.) will jump at any opportunity for free labor. I bet you can find something at your local Little League park that needs to be replaced or repaired. Offer to do it. Become that guy around the league who fixes stuff. That’s just one example, but find a community that needs something that you can give. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. Anyone can mow grass or use a paint brush, but the grass is still too high and the foul poles haven’t been painted in a decade. Few people are willing to get out there and just do the things that need to be done. Be that dude, and you’ll feel better.

I’ve found a therapist that actually helps but getting out of a toxic work environment was the biggest key to get me more neutral.

Get your testosterone checked. Seriously.
Also, for those with crippling depression…
Try to to accomplish one small task a day, like making your bed. Take a shower. Change into clean clothes. Make that phone call. Open that envelope and pay that bill. Load the dishwasher. Get the dirty cups off your nightstand. Just one thing.
Force yourself to get up and move. Get outside and in the sun. If you can’t walk a mile, walk a lap around your yard or apartment building. Touch your toes. Stretch.
Get out of the house. Don’t self-isolate. Get among other humans, even if it’s at the park or a store.
Open your blinds/curtains. Let natural light in.
Consider praying/talking to God. Go to church/mass. If you’re not a believer try to meditate, do breathing exercises.
If you drink alcohol, especially to excess, try to quit or cut back. It’s multiplying your depression.
Somebody else pick it up from here.
