Dear Facebook,

Honest question. How long does it take you to put together a quote?

It obviously depends on the type of property and the type of survey. I understand this.

I've been working on getting quotes for ALTA surveys for days. Most of these sites are less than 4 acres and contain one single-story building of about 50,000 square feet.

If it is a detailed process to provide a quote, then I just want to know so that I can be prepared in the future.

These are for sites in Texas.

How much info are you providing for them to base the quote off of?

ALTA (depending on what is selected from the list to be part of the survey) is generally the most detailed type of survey.

address, acreage, notation of one land parcel, size of site building

that is correct. Table A is a bit more detailed.

And how many sites?

How long have you been waiting for the quote? Unless its a ridiculous number of sites, its shouldn't be anything out of the ordinary for them.

For an ALTA Survey, you must provide a current Title Commitment and a copy of any exceptions listed in the title commitment that encumber the property. That is a requirement. Are you sure you need an ALTA? It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Tell your surveyor the purpose of the survey and he should be able to offer advice to you and provide a proper quote that fits your needs.

my client asked for an ALTA, so yes.

that's a fine line for me to walk with my client because I don't want them to think that I think they are stupid
