3PL suuuuuuucccckkksss

It's getting harder and harder to co-broker. Freight is down, Int'l shipping is down, mfg is down, the economy is nearly stalled.

Lots of discount low-ballers out there making it hard for a pimp.

It has to be a stressful job. You can never drop the ball or your customer goes somewhere else and you are dependent on someone else making or breaking you.

I have stuck with one freight broker over 5 years but there have been 5-6 different people that have taken over my account during that time.

Being a new broker it very difficult b/c with a new MC # trucking companies won't work for you and factoring companies won't buy your invoices from them....

I'm hoping to find all those independent carriers that need a independent broker.
I know it's slow going at first, but you get the ball rolling, I think it will be ok.

I flipped loads for about 6 months and though the money was good, I just couldn't look myself in the mirror anymore. I had to become everything I hate in order to survive.

To say it's cut throat is like saying Angola is quaint.

You've been warned.

I have 10yrs experience with C.H.Robinson. 18 yrs total... as others have said Robinson owns most market pricing activity / carrier relationships and customer relationships.

I am pretty sure now a $75k bond is required for a broker start up.

Unless you have deep industry knowledge / relationships on both sides of the transaction / substantial capital to float 1-2 yrs I would recommend passing on this decision

The only reason to work for a freight broker is that you can't get a job anywhere else. They'll hire anyone.
