Published: Mar. 09, 2023, 4:03 p.m.
More than 350,000 electric heating blankets sold on Amazon have been recalled because they may catch fire.

The Bedsure heating blankets in flannel and sherpa and heating pads were sold online at Amazon and BedsureHome from August 2022 through November 2022 for between $25 and $110, according to an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

“The controller for the electric heating blankets and pads can malfunction, posing fire and thermal burn hazards.”

The commission said Bedsure “has received 137 reports of the blankets and pads catching fire, burning, melting and overheating in consumer homes, causing minor property damage. These include 17 reports of burn injuries, including one report of second-degree burns.”

Included in the recall are Bedsure electric heating blankets in throw, twin and full sizes made of flannel and/or sherpa in the following colors - beige, black, blue, blue plaid, brown, gray (light and dark), gray plaid, green (dark), navy, red, red plaid and red plaid (cream), depending on the size and model.

Also recalled are heating pads in the following sizes: 12? x 24?, 24? x 22? and 24? x 33? and colors brown, gray and teal.

The electric blankets and pads are controlled by a white cord with a white digital controller unit.

The model numbers recalled are:

Heating blankets - BS-HB5060, BS-HB6284, BS-HB7284 and BS-LV0A
Heating pads - BS-HP2422, BS-HP1224 and BS-HP2433

People who bought the heating blankets and pads should stop using them and can get a refund from Bedsure.

For more information, call Bedsure at 855-888-9966, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday; send an email to safety@bedsurehome.com; or by going to the website and clicking on “recall information” under the “customer care” menu at the bottom of the page.
