Adding a square trade warranty to an existing phone

Let’s say I had a premonition that in the next few days I may drop my phone and crack the screen despite it being in a case...
Is their anything preventing me from adding a square trade plan to my iPhone X and if my premonition comes true then filing a claim for a phone repair??
