That not true, sadly. 14th century peasants only worked for a portion of the year, and had long periods of downtime.
The crazy work week is a modern phenomenon, and it goes back to electric lighting and factories.
Hunter gatherers actually had normal lifespans, if you exclude infant mortality. In many many ways they were healthier and I suspect happier than we are.
