Not true. I stacked a team once. I got an All-American D2 golfer, a buddy of mine who was a scratch golfer, his son who was a 6, and I was the hack with a 9. It was a small town charity event and everyone picked us to win. We eagled our first hole which was a par 4. Thought we were a shoe-in, but our -14 didn't sniff the money. A group with four golfers worse than me shot -15, and we finished in fourth place.
