re: Your view of Tom Benson

I think Rita has all but taken over the team. That being said, here are my thoughts about Tom Benson:

I'm glad he bought the Saints to keep them in N.O., LA. However he also bought them to make a lot of money which he has done so those things cancel each other out IMO.

All of his GM's have pretty much been bean counters except for Muller who he fired after three years and Finks. So IMO that tells you what he is worried about.

The Saint's are almost always under the cap and rarely sign big time FA in their prime. (remember, Vilma was a trade b/c the system didn't fit him and Brees was a ? because of the injury) Who was the last FA signing you got excited over? Jim Everett? (Also, we usually only make big signings when a new coach comes in)

This in turn also leads to a mass exodous of talent such as Joe Johnson, Willie Roaf , LaCharles Bentley, Morton Anderson, Mark Fields, Sam Mills, Lorenzo Neal, La'Roi Golver, etc., etc. That again shows that they traditionally don't hand over money to their own FA. (Before you start talking about Smith and Grant, I remind you that that is most likely Rita and not Benson and that doesn't appear to be working out so well this year anyway.)

Benson always goes to the legislature to poor mouth for money and threaten to leave but refuses to ever let the State inspect his books. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! This also doesn't sit well with the fans when their team is dangled as a threat for more money.

Katrina mess with San Antonio. Enough said.

IMO, Tom Benson, The Bidwell Family, Mike Brown and Bill Ford, Jr. are the worst owners in the NFL. I hope Rita is better.
