Before someone comes in, specifically big money guy (Suh), do we talk to agent to see a ballpark on sakary before a “visit” is even scheduled?

I’d imagine a guy wanting 15 isn’t going to travel cross country to a team only willing to offer 2.

These guys aren’t going to get on a plane and waste half their day visiting a team if both parties aren’t in the same Ball Park.

On the flip, the saints aren’t going to waste time with a FA if they don’t seriously think a deal could be done

It can still not work out of course, but I don’t think a guy visits and the offer ends up being 10s of millions off from what the player is looking for

Just my take though, wtf do I know

I would imagine we'd have some idea before we put a ton of effort in, yes.

ask yourself... "Would I fly across the country to a job interview without knowing what they may pay me?"

I would say as a general rule....yes. Especially when you are talking about figures in the 12-15 million range.

We have all see stories where the news will say Player x is looking for 9-11 million and then ends up signing 3 years/24 million for an average of 8 million and then some of that is language.

Especially if it is 2nd contract it may be more important for a guy to lose 1 million a year, so 3 million total off of what he is looking for to get a huge upfront signing bonus and a big chunk guaranteed.
