he's pretty damn good so far in his career. In fact, his stats at this point are better than Brees' were (and I'm sure arguments can be made about quality of team etc...).

Matt Ryan is a phenomenal quarterback, and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves.
All talk of "Matty check down" should go away. The guy throws it downfield all the time and he's insanely accurate. If my team didn't currently have an all-time great quarterback playing for it, I'd think Matt Ryan would be the next best thing.
