Saints drafted 3 olineman and several dline with high picks the last 6-7 years. When looking for a QB the best friend you could have is a great offensive line.
Problem is most if not all totally backfired and now trying to stay afloat with 35 year old players.
Then you have a GM/president that cannot admit he was wrong
It’s bad and gonna get way worst. If they hire Gruden, he will be the head coach by thanksgiving next year.

I agree it was a good plan. Except QB I’m always in favor of drafting a D or O lineman with first pick. Unfortunately the players we drafted haven’t worked out except maybe Bresee

Hindsight is something, but I remember some comments from 2019 to present.
2019: 2nd round (McCoy), UDFA Granderson, Hardy
- still the best/correct pick, no doubts about it. he comes in immediately and makes an impact and plays at an above average level.
- Granderson has shown up as an above average DE. we just need another guy or 2...
2020: 1st round (Ruiz), 3rd round (Baun, Trautman)
- This is where you get weird, maybe it was COVID and no game film etc... you just got a stud center...now you draft a guy who is projected to go...center
- Other players of need: Queen (ILB), Brandon Aiyuk (WR) were available.
2021: 1st round (Turner), 2nd (Werner), 3rd (Adebo)
- once again, solid thought. just lost hendrickson, need another DE to pair with Davenport/Jordan. Issue is you went for the uber athlete guy who was oft-injured in college
- the next 3 immediate pass rushers all this season alone has put up more sack #s and games played than Turner has in the same time (Rousseau, Oweh, and Tryon-Shyinka)
2022: 1st round (Olave, Penning), 2nd round (Taylor)
- Trading up for an absolute need at WR wasn't stupid, trading next year's pick to go all in to get a 2nd 1st round pick was though.
- The taylor pick also makes no sense. You had 2 boundary corners. taylor is NOT a nickel...so what the frick are you doing forcing a square peg into a round hole?

He had plenty of good moments at nickel and when he was beat usually still in good coverage. Can’t have too many good CBs, it is odd he got benched a few times and maybe he has an attitude problem, I feel Penning has one also. Just a guess
