Why? They have been trying to smear his name since this thing started. At least some of ESPN.

Wouldn't it suck if ESPN actually wanted to write a piece about how great a guy Vilma was?

Yeah, because the piece on Payton was so heartwarming.

I doubt that's what they want, but yeah. One thing I've learned through this is that JV is an emotional guy who wears his feelings on his sleeve. He's been wrongly accused and yet his story seems to get no traction. It must get frustrating and discouraging to him. But he has to keep his eye on the bigger picture. I just hope the courts don't screw him over too.

That letter was sent to one of his Jets teammates...ESPn didn't even tell Vilma they were doing this "character assessment" but Barton apparently sent the letter to Vilma

He has a right to be pissed. I love it

I agree. After all the shite ESPN has pulled with the Saints the last several months, including the Loomis wiretapping debacle, sending reporters to try to dig up dirt, etc. they deserve what they get. The reporter doesn't even have the decency to at least talk to Vilma first and hear what he has to say. What a lowlife.

Whats the worse that can happen. It's not like this gets back to Goodell and then he obnoxiously overreacts and bans us all from football and fines us and then ESPN runs a story for 10 months vilifying and slandering us. I just dont see that happening to anyone.

Please tell me that Florio isn't that stupid. What does he think they are going to do?

If he wouldn't have done this, ESPN would have pulled some of that "we tried to reach Vilma to get his thoughts, but he didn't respond" bullshite.
